Invite Only

Kids are selected via our NICAS classes. See our ‘Kids’ page for further information on joining.

Sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the squad is divided into ‘Foundation’ and ‘Development’.

Our Flashpoint Cardiff Squads are made up of focused and driven climbers with a passion for bouldering. We work on both physical and mental skills in a competition environment, allowing young climbers to enjoy and excel at local and national events.

While placing well at competitions is a brilliant achievement, we aim to also build a team who have fun and look forward to competition, as well as embracing climbing outside.

Climber Checklist

The Foundation Squad is aimed at climbers looking to progress from NIBAS classes and take on more challenges and structure in their climbing.

We are looking to work with passionate young climbers who are willing to work hard and show an interest in learning how to train for climbing, and improve their skill level.

Attendance requirement for the Foundation Squad is 2 days per week. Exceptional circumstances may be considered by coaches. Minimum age to join is 7.

The Development Squad is comprised of climbers who have moved up from the Foundation Squad.

We are looking to work with climbers who are excited to participate in structured training to improve the physical aspects that are required, as well as improving the other key aspects of their climbing. We want to work with climbers who have a clear passion for climbing and pushing themselves to improve.

Attendance is mandatory for both sessions each week.

We’re looking for climbers who are;

  • Driven
  • Competent (with safety skills)
  • Constructive (responds well to feedback)
  • Polite
  • Engaged
  • Team player
  • Good climbers who want to improve
