Kids Taster sessions are a great way to get into bouldering. Whether they’ve climbed a little, or never even considered climbing as a new sport/hobby – this taster will be the perfect introduction and get them hooked!  The sessions are in a small group with a coach who will guide the them through skills and techniques that can be used both on and off the wall. Climbing is fantastic for agility, balance and coordination skills, as well as confidence and problem-solving abilities! Many kids who boulder learn abilities for life and continue the sport into adulthood!

We offer our taster session in the school holidays as a way to get introduced to our wonderful sport, meet new friends and have fun!

Price includes gear hire, but not the logbook or enrolment in NICAS Bouldering scheme. The log-book and NICAS Bouldering enrolment comes free with any Club sign up.

What is NICAS Climbing?

NICAS Climbing is a UK-wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. They’re a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering, from novice to experienced, starting from age 7.

NICAS Climbing has five progressive levels of award for complete novices to expert climbers. The scheme is split into two parts and takes a minimum of 80 hours to complete Levels 1 to 4 and an additional year to complete Level 5. Part one contains Levels 1 to 3 and part two contains Levels 4 and 5.

Flashpoint Juniors 7-11 and 11+ follow NICAS levels 1 – 4. Our Academy and Competition squad follows NICAS level 5.

Please arrive 10 minutes early – it takes a little time to check your paperwork and get your shoes fitted.

Getting here: We are easy to get to via car, train, or on foot. Find us on google maps Here

What to wear: Wear loose comfortable clothing (what you would wear to the gym). It can be a little chilly in the winter, so make sure you have some warm clothes. However, you will warm up while climbing – wearing ‘layers’ that can be added or removed as required is ideal. Please bring some thin socks to wear with the climbing shoes.

Lockers: We have free to use lockers, which require your own padlocks (available at reception).  However we cannot take responsibility for your valuables, so ideally do not bring anything of significant value to the centre.

Café: We have a great café serving coffee, cake and soft drinks.

Gift Vouchers: Please book using your voucher by calling us on 029 2233 7227 or booking in person.
