A no experience necessary technique session aimed at beginner climbers, or experienced boulderers wanting to learn to supervise under 16’s or use the auto belays. Sessions last an hour and a half and include a safety brief, bouldering safety and techniques, supervising under 18’s and the use of the tower (auto belays)!
One of our enthusiastic instructors will give you a tour, teach you the basics of bouldering and show you how to use the auto belay towers safely. After this session, you should feel comfortable using any of the climbing facilities at Flashpoint Cardiff.

Please Arrive 10 Minutes Early: it takes time to fit your climbing shoes, check your paperwork, etc, before your session starts.
On completion of the course adults will be able to register for climbing unsupervised and we can get the children all set up to be supervised by you as well!
This session is designed for family groups. All children participating must be supervised appropriately and at least one adult MUST take part in the session.
What to wear: You will need to wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move, for example what you would wear during a P.E. lesson or to the gym. It can be a little chilly during the winter, so make sure you have some warm clothes. However, you will warm up when climbing so wearing ‘layers’ that can be added or removed as required is ideal. Please bring along some thin socks to wear without climbing shoes.
SEND Participants: It is up to the participants, and those accompanying SEND participants, to judge if the session is appropriate. We ask that SEND participants have an accompanying adult who may spectate off the matted area (such as the sofas or benches).
At the end of the session the adults will be able to use any of our centres as an independent climber and supervise up to 2 children, for more details on our supervision policy click here.
