A no experience necessary technique session aimed at beginner climbers who would like to get to know the centre, or experienced boulderers wanting to learn to supervise under 16’s or use the auto belays. Sessions last an hour and a half and include a safety brief, bouldering safety and techniques, supervising under 18’s and the use of the tower (auto belays)!
One of our enthusiastic instructors will give you a tour, teach you the basics of bouldering and show you how to use the auto belay towers safely. After this session, you should feel comfortable using any of the climbing facilities at Flashpoint Cardiff.

Please Arrive 10 Minutes Early: it takes time to fit your climbing shoes, check your paperwork, etc, before your session starts.
Age 16+ – restrictions on autobelay weights – min. 22 lbs (10kg) // max. 330 lbs (150 kg)
After this session you should feel comfortable using the bouldering walls and feel welcome in our centre. You may have been able to pick up some basic tips and techniques that will help you get moving on the wall.

Parking: There is plenty of parking at Freemans Parc and the car park has no time limit or closing hours.
What to wear: Wear loose comfortable clothing (what you would wear to the gym). It can be a little chilly in the winter, so make sure you have some warm clothes. However, you will warm up while climbing – wearing ‘layers’ that can be added or removed as required is ideal. Please bring some thin socks to wear with the climbing shoes.
Lockers: We have free to use lockers, which require your own padlocks (available at reception). However we cannot take responsibility for your valuables, so ideally do not bring anything of significant value to the centre.
Café: We have a great café serving coffee, cake and soft drinks.

You can cancel your bookings so long as you give us reasonable notice. This is different depending on what type of session you have booked.

Parties: 7 days notice required.
